HDCP & EDID
Infoframes: AVI, VSIF, SPD, AUD, HVS, HFV
Small data packets sent with every frame that describe the picture, sound and source.
What is it?
HDMI infoframes travel alongside the video: AVI (Auxiliary Video Information — colour space, range, VIC resolution code, colorimetry), HDR/DRM (HDR10 metadata), VSIF (Vendor-Specific — 3D, 4K modes, Dolby Vision, HDR10+), SPD (Source Product Description — the source's name, e.g. 'Apple TV'), AUD (audio format), HVS (HDMI vendor specific) and HFV (HDMI Forum vendor specific — ALLM, VRR). A wrong infoframe makes a display pick the wrong mode.
Why it matters with the HDfury Vertex²
The HDfury Vertex² captures, decodes and shows every infoframe (this is its 'HDMI Explorer'), and lets you capture, edit, block or replace the AVI, HDR and VSIF ones. That fixes sources that send wrong colour-range or colorimetry flags, removes infoframes that confuse DVI monitors, and is what makes the HLG→HDR and LLDV tricks possible.
How to use it on the Vertex²
Web server → HDR/DV → 'Captured AVI metadata' / 'Custom AVI infoframe generator' (VIC, primaries, range → Create IF → Send AVI), 'Disable AVI'. Other infoframes are displayed under 'Other captured metadata'. Source names from SPD appear on the OLED and OSD.
